Do I need a special frame for a double door?
A double door at the front of your home offers a very impressive entry to the property, and there are a variety of different styles available that range from very large fully double doors, mixed width with one larger than the other, and two slightly narrower doors. If you have an existing large aperture for your door that features a window alongside the doorway, you may be considering an upgrade to create a different look at the front of your home.
Whatever type of a double door you choose, you will need a frame that the UPVC door will fit into. The frame for a double door will be bigger in the width than a frame for an ordinary front door.
Your Independent Network installer will be able to talk you through your options about different types of doors that suit the design of your home. They will be able to specify a design that looks great, and which offers a high level of security and energy efficiency. You will be able to choose between a variety of different styles from modern to traditional that complement any home.
Choosing a double door gives you a larger entrance to your home, but unless changes to the walls need to be made to accommodate the new design, it will be fitted in the same way as a narrower door to fit the existing hole.
