The biggest difference in the two is that a bay window will always have a base to it whereas a bow typically doesn’t. A bow window will usually have a fancy timber constructed base below with a Gallows Bracket instead of a brick base and more times than not they will have a canopy roof on top but can fit underneath the house soffit. They can have 2 - 9 sides to them but they still follow the same rule.
